Free Android App Tracks Availability and Performance of Business-Critical Applications Anytime, Anywhere
PLEASANTON, Calif. — December 03, 2013 — ManageEngine, the real-time IT management company, today announced the availability of a native Android app for Applications Manager, its application performance monitoring solution. The mobile app keeps IT operations personnel informed on the performance and health status of their business-critical applications and services even while they are on the move. The Applications Manager Android app is available as a free download on the Google Play store at http://ow.ly/rnOdy.
Downtime or poor performance of revenue-critical business applications can adversely affect a brand's reputation. Consequently, IT staff must be able to quickly identify performance issues and remediate them before end customers are affected. Problems happen around the clock, not just during office hours, so IT administrators need a way to track application performance on the move and respond to problems in real time, even when they are offsite.
"Android smartphones now account for more than 80 percent of the global smartphone market," said Sridhar Iyengar, vice president of product management at ManageEngine. "Given the vast base of Android OS users, it made sense for us to provide an Android app that enables IT admins to track application performance on the go. Along with our native iOS app, this Android app makes application performance monitoring faster and more convenient."
With the native Applications Manager Android app, IT admins and application engineers can monitor their servers and applications to maintain on-the-go visibility into the health, availability and performance status of critical applications and business services. IT admins can also receive notifications on their mobile devices when there are outages or performance slowdowns. Additionally, they can perform basic troubleshooting functions and take corrective actions from their Android devices without logging into the full-blown Applications Manager web client from a desktop. The app is compatible with all Android smartphones or tablets using OS 2.3 or later.
The Applications Manager Android app connects to existing Applications Manager installations over the mobile network or Wi-Fi to provide instant access to detailed application health statistics or remedial actions. For example, technicians can trigger a Windows service action or provision a virtual machine, even while they are away from the office.
The Applications Manager Android app is available now for free. For more information on the app and to download it for free, please visit http://www.manageengine.com/products/applications_manager/android-app.html. Existing customers can access the app using their original login credentials.
