Unable to connect to Remote Desktop

Problem

You are trying to establish remote connection to a Linux computer using Endpoint Central and your connection fails.

Cause

You cannot establish a connection if X Window system is not available in the agent machine.

Resolution

  1. If you do not have any GUI component, you will have to manually download the X Window system and install them on agent machine.
  2. If your device runs on any of the below mentioned OS, remote control may not work when Wayland is enabled instead of X Window system:
    • Ubuntu 22
    • Redhat (RHEL 8) and above
    • Fedora 25 and above
  3. To disable Wayland follow the steps given below:
    • Open the file /etc/gdm3/custom.conf in a text editor
    • Uncomment the line: "#WaylandEnable=false" (remove the # before the line)
    • Save the file and reeboot the system.
